I spoke to my ISP sysop about this same issue. He advised that most (but
not all) BBS and ISP connects are at lower than 33.6 because the modems
first connect at the most reliable baud rate, and then auto-retrain baud
rates to achieve the fastest permissible for the line and other conditions.
This auto-retrain function occurs several times during a connect session.
Ensure your service provider has his modems set for auto-retrain. I'd say
you're already set up right.
