MM>Most fans tend to scoff at this interpretation, because of long-held
MM>ivory tower views of the Vulcans. The story of Vulcan history made
MM>clear by Gambit, however, is that the Romulans were the victims of
MM>persecution, and fled Vulcan to save their lives. Is it any wonder that
MM>they are hostile to the descendants of their persecutors?
Most fans are used to literally decades of (admittedly non-canon)
history, which TNG suddenly turned on it ear. Canon Trek has a long
history of ignoring and contradicting what has become "common knowledge"
among Trekkies, and this is just one more example of how TPTB ignored
and flouted all that had become "true."
