i have a rat shack shortwave and found a way around having no jack.
I ran a 28 awg wire along the upper edge of the wall at the ceiling around my 
bed room (my favorite listening position is horizontal)
I simply took the end of the wire and stripped several inches off, twisting 
the bare wire around the base of the telescoping antenna swivel.
the increase in performance is nothing short of astounding.
