Hello
I am simply curious as to why anyone would go to great lengths (or
dollars) to get a fanless PS. Lately PS units I have seen operate 12v fans
at roughly 6-7v which slows them down sufficiently to make them essentially
noiseless. In fact on a few of these I have redone the internal fan
connection to get back to 12v to see if I could live with the noise vs the
improved cooling, figuring that homebuilt fan control is cheap (less than
10bucks even if you don't have parts laying around like me) quick and easy
to build. Because I don't mind a little noise I didn't even have to (get
to) build a speed controller because I could live with the noise. None of
them were very loud even at 12v and almost silent at the default 6-7v. So
why the big deal over fanless?
Jimmy
