Hello, Doug Carter, I'd like you to meet my friend, Harvey...
DC> patience... One project for the winter is to get some
DC> information on Sciences of the First Nations... either 'real'
DC> (practical application) or even the 'mythological' type... ie I
DC> saw some good astronomy stuff here a fair while back...
DC> hopefully my archives survive... but if anyone has some good
DC> leads I'd like to follow them... perhaps Internet first, then
 DC> books etc...
I haven't posted this -anywhere- yet because it really isn't ready, too many
things to do and not enough time. But since you asked, the Indian_Affairs
echo archives are available online.

There's ummm... 22 megs of text there, 8 megs zipped. The search engine is
-not- ready and won't be for a while, so I did a grep for 'astronomy'.
These are the zip files you might want. They average about 40k each. I didn't
look any further than grep so have no idea what the topic for relevant
messages is, URLs, books, people, discussion, whatever. So might be only one
message in the 99 even mentions astronomy, but at least it's all there.
Or if you know what dates you're looking for see 00index.txt to find out what
date range each file involves and maybe narrow things down a bit.
Suggest the zip rather than text versions to cut down a lot of bandwidth.

Eventually I intend that a search engine will return -individual- messages.
Haven't found anything that does what I need so must write it myself. It's
not rocket science but does take a bunch of time.
Have a :-) day!
