"dearth"? 

You have obviously made the common mistake of thinking C
programmers are here lurking. This is just a hiding place for
Pascal programmers waiting for those frequent posts of new
Pascal utlities etc. that popup here from time to time. 

Possibly I could write one in OBERON?
