I would like to offer the results of some of my research.

MAG    Best bang for buck, both 15MX/DX and 17MX/DX have the largest
viewing areas, medium price, $700 and $1200        Best value, $550 and
$950
SAMSUNG  Best monitors around, consistently win awards, but at a price,
$700 and $1500, get the GLSi NEC    The dearest ones around (with The EIZO
monitors), no longer the best money can buy, small viewing areas, cost $500
(new model CE500) or $800 for other 15" and $1700 for the 17".
Consider the Shamrock 17" for $850, good monitor or the new NEC CE500
15" if money is an object. Peter.
