NB>A few days before I left on my trip, the bbs I
NB>send DADS and ASIAN_LINK messages from went down inexplicably, and
NB>wasn't back up until I got back from my trip. I sent the reply packet
NB>I'd prepared over the few days before leaving finally AFTER I got
NB>back... ;) Turned out he'd had a massive crash... thankfully he's back
NB>up and running well again. :)
DS> The Sysops worst nightmare...a massive system crash. :( Been there,
DS> done that...which reminds me...I need to make another data backup. :P
Always good to be backed up... ;) Never know when you might need it...
DS> I got my start in BBSing on one that was run by the Computer Science
DS> Department at the University Of Arkansas At Little Rock. That's where
DS> I first met Janice Harvey...who would become my wife many years later.
DS> If that BBS is still in existence, it's for the computer science users
DS> now. As best as I can tell, my BBS is the only one left in Arkansas.
At least the only one in the Fido nodelist...
DS> I thought I had a file on the BBS with the program that I ran "The
DS> World's Smallest BBS" on my Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 100 laptop, but
DS> could not locate it this morning. I guess I have to dig into an older
DS> backup to find it...or I might be able to Google it.
There may have been others equally small, in similar setups... ;)
NB>We get that, too... nothing but rain in the forecast, but look out the
NB>window and there's sun and maybe some clouds... ;)
DS> I wish that was Arkansas' weather...but we're in the midst of our
DS> spring Tornado Season now, and the BBS ends up being offline more than
DS> online, to protect from lightning damage.
We get the rain, too... but things are a lot more variable than the
forecast often indicates... I'm glad we aren't often hit by tornados,
though...
