I just wanted to let you all know what's going on with the pdnnews file
areas.. I've still got to work on the pdncee file area, and probably
others... :(

I find this sad... not to mention a major pia, especially right now.

After distributing with permission (!), cuj and ddj source code files, as
well as other source code files that both CUJ (Miller/Freeman) and DDJ
encouraged me to download and distribute, Jonathan Erickson, who is now
Editorial Director of _both_ DDJ and CUJ, and a number of other
publications now under the CMP Media corporate umbrella, has told me I must
remove all source  code files and related programs from filegate.net.

I love this.. use Fidonet to advertise your goddamn magazine for 12 years,
then demand everything be yanked... Erik Van Riper who started the PDN in
about 1985 had permission as well, documented in a written letter from DDJ
and CUJ at the time.. after Erik asked me to take over the PDN, I contacted
each of them as well.. and received permission from them.

This all came about because www.ddj.com changed the way they handled the
src. code files.. you must now register as a user to download them.  I
contacted them and asked if this meant I should no longer distribute source
files from 2004+.  I didn't expect this response.

I'll post my message to the webmaster at www.ddj.com, and Jonathan
Erikson's reply to me.
