Only heard about it last week.

Not sure what's going to happen.  The licensed trade already faces a total
tobacco ban next year with an unpredictable effect on turnover.  Now we
have the fact that an Entertainments Licence no longer costs GBP1200 but is
close to free, leading to dozens if not hundreds of pubs in Sheffield
trying to stage gigs once a week - and there ain't enough punters to go
round. Classic venues like the White Lion at Heeley Bottom are not booking
acts for 2007.

And now you have to be _fingerprinted_ to go into a pub?  I note the next
planned test cities include Sheffield.  We will see.
