Thought for sure my monitor was dying - looking gray with banding (but the
banding moves when I move a window) but plugged the monitor into another
machine and it's working fine.  I still need to doublecheck with a
different monitor on this machine, but I'm suspecting my Matrox G450 32MEG
video card.

What's the best bet for a replacement?  I can find these cards at $85
using Froogle.  I like to run 1600*1200 16bit color.
