TE> ZyXel won't connect to Hayes and will set me back either $349 or $299.
TE> I can get a USR Courier for $256.50. Now what do I do?
Well, the Courier may have problems connecting to the Hayes too. Mine did.
After our net upgraded the Optima to v.34, hardly anyone could connect
reliably. We took the Hayes offline. OTOH, I'm having problems connecting to
a 2864 Elite one of my links has with the USR's, both Courier and Sportster.
I want another ZyXEL, but right now I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Trying
to decide if I want to go ISDN now or in the near future. BTW, the Omni is
only $249 on the sysop plan, same as the Courier. If your not concerned with
faxes, voice, dist. ring, etc., the Courier is probably the better choice. If
you are, then the ZyXEL is the obvious choice. I wouldn't worry too much
about the connects right now, they will improve, and flashing them is not too
tough.:-)
