Ok, I noticed that another difference is that smapinttpd in the replies in thie
echo doesn't put the initials in the quoted rows.

So Is it possibile that someone in the middle between me and you is altering in
some way the messages in JAMNNTPD ECHO so smapinntpd can't correctly reply
these messages?
