RE: DIMMs -> WC> I can buy 2-3 sets of this memory from Ebay for the cost -> WC> of a local vendor's offering. -> Yes but then there is the question of shipping etc. so it might actually turn -> out to be a better deal at the local vendor, especially if the local vendor can -> be trusted. Sometimes this is a tough call. Most, if not all, the stuff that -> attracts my attention on eBay is stuff that is virtually impossible to find -> around this neck of the woods. The shipping on one guy's lots is very high but it's still 400 percent cheaper than new and this memory isn't stocked locally at vendors I've checked. -> I did have some pc-100 stuff but after checking it out most of it ended up -> being farmed out to where it would be more useful and the rest got ye ol' -> heave-ho. I'll be happy to check around for more if you want but currently -> have no way to check them out at the moment. Maybe soon but if that happens -> then I'll probably be in the market myself. ;-) -> I think your situation is worthwhile pursuing as far as what could potentially -> happen with it. I've been gradually learning about this box. A question, does having a L2 cache memory setting in the BIOS selectable L2 cache ECC enabled or disabled indicate this machine can take either sort of DIMMs so long as they're all the same type? Phoenix BIOS 4.0 Release 6.0? The default setting is disabled thus suggesting to me existing DIMM is non-ECC. It seems to suggest I can go either way to me as long as the DIMMS are of the same type? My idea that this was a server class machine is holding up to scrutiny. An early Pentium III machine it has a 2 wire connector that appears to allow electing SCUSI, as it's labeled SCUSI amd the power supply is rated 450 watts from a time when that was not quite so common.
