"RS> " I went to the opthalmologist on Monday, and during "the "
"RS> course of a regular eye examination, they discovered that " the
"RS> pressure in my right eye is about 30. From what I was " said, this
"RS> can lead to nerve damage and eventually "glaucoma " and all the joys
"RS> " Is there anything I can do to help decrease the amount of " fluid,
"RS> perhaps even get it to drain a bit more readily, " etc., short of
"RS> appreciated in regards to this. " I'd like to not develop glaucoma
I'm sorry to hear that you are having probs with your eyes,,,there is a lot
of fear when people hear the tern GLAUCOMA,,so let me tell you a little bout
myself,,i was born totally blind with glaucoma 32 years ago,,but i was very
lucky as it was detected and at 3 weeks of age i had my first operation,,6 in
all,,for many years i didn't need any medication but 2 years ago i started on
BETOPTIC S eye drops as my pressure went up to 35,,now it is all under
control,,one word of warning though ,, make sure that you have an
OPTHALOMOLGIST looking after you and not a OPTOMETRIST as only an
opthalmologist can treat you properly,,you CANNOT treat it yourself ,,if your
pressure stays high then you might need to start drops ,,these are not
painful and have few side effects,,in some cases of Glaucoma you shouldn't
drink large amounts of water ,,in my case that don't make any diff,,oh and by
the way I now drive a car (i have enough sight ) and lead a normal life so
Glaucoma really isn't all that bad provided you recieve correct treatment and
care for your eyes,,hope i have been of some help to you,,let me know if you
want to know more,,
cya
