G'day John,

I was hoping 'someone like you' would come to my rescue :)

JC> This looks like a later version of the M7F but fitted with
 JC> M34F like ROMs.

Sounds about right. I'd meanwhile found ATI10, which lists a huge amount
of stats for all calls ever made (though a bit sparse on the _last_ call),
that lists connects speeds up to 28800, though stats above 14400 are of
course 0.

JC> First the latest M7F and then the M34F
JC> that I have used here both showing the prefered profiles

 JC> NetComm M7F
 JC> Series 5 V.32bis Modem Y7DFS(A) v2.34 (C) NetComm (Aust) 1993

What sort of case are these in? Maybe the box/panels were irrelevant by
then .. comparisons between the earlier E5 and M5, having had one of each
of Trev's hand-me-downs :) here for a few weeks, don't seem to fit the same
picture.

JC> I'd use the M34F profile to set up your modem and work from there.

Yes, same looks like, though I'll have to explore the different setup to
this one carefully. I'll get back to you if I have any problems, rest
assured :)

JC> The modem may well have a built-in help. Try entering AT?
JC> - this should bring up the help and explain the settings.
JC> You may not need the manual.

Sure does - yes, I'm piecing a complete if terse manual together from those
screens, which should do most of the trick. Thanks for the magic key!

Cheers, Ian
