Still using 2400 modem?

$40 will buy you a beautifully engineered 9600 bps modem. Scitec

datalink v32, made in USA by Penril DataComm. Austel approved!

It is a good modem , very expensive few years ago. Based on TI320

DSP (just like current USR Courier), has LCD display that shows

modem status, speed, Tx & Rx levels, line quality and more stats -

all while hard at work. Using the display and 6 buttons you can

configure the modem - there is no need for init strings any more.

This modem supports all speeds up to 9600 (v32) including 1200/75,

also has MNP up to class 5.

Your $40 will buy you a working modem with power supply and phone

cable (but not a serial cable) plus identical second modem for

spares (it works as far as you can configure it but does nor send

characters to computer) with spare working power supply.

If interested, please reply preferably netmail or email.

Cheers,

Tom
