The feed is always so "iffy" I often wonder if there are messages floating
around and I'm the only guy not getting them. Apparently not.
Yesterday I laid the keel for my newest project. A 1/96 scale model of the
French battleship RICHELIEU. Of course, 1/96 probably sounds tiny to guys
building 1/4 scale model airplanes. But, in fact, a RICHELIEU in 1/96 will be
102" long and displace about 115 lbs.
The hull is being built in two parts for easy transportation. The forward
section will be 52" and will house the batteries. The rear 50" section will
contain the remainder of the operating gear. The ship is being built with the
same strategy as the real ship. The French, cowards that they are, designed
the real ship with a high degree of survivability rather than heavy armament.
It devoted more of it's displacemt to armour plating than any ship ever
built. And I intend to build the most survivable RC ship model ever. It will
have multiple waterproof compartments and solid bulkheads.
All for now.
