        Hard as it is, in this case it would be a no. It has to be an
  expense to benefit your operation. In your exemple, you would
  benefit Linux. Now if you bought Linux, you could defray its cost
  against your operating income. This sloop that I had on charter
  was a "business" venture and I could defray the cost of insurance,
  mooring, new sail and winter storage from its incoming revenues.
  Whatever was left, was added to my own revenue and taxed.
