Geez! I hate to be so basic but since you didn't mention it I'll ask if
you looked into bios settings? PS2 mouse awareness is default
"off" in some bioses and USB is often "off" on many
bioses. In fact, many bioses have USB lines for DOS awareness and IRQ
assignment too. Also, it is still somewhat important on some OS's to set
"PNP OS installed" to "No" so that bios sets everything
up for those OS's to read. I am a little concerned that Com1 didn't work
since it is rare if not never that I have seen a bios default to
"Com1-Disabled". As a matter of course I do go in and disable
any function I am not using but this isn't essential, just helpful. BTW
does the PS/2 keyboard work?
