Actually, you can blame him for a fundamental error -- he ASSUMED the
Allies would go along with his ideas.  He failed to INSIST they agree
before committing US troops.

As a result, they treated him like a door-to-door salesman when the
vacuum cleaner he sold you breaks down -- he has your money.
