While I prefer a 900 with EL34s, I've heard properly set up 900s with 5881s,
and I didn't think they were that bad.  More of a "metal tone" IMHO, but
that's not a bad thing.  A friend of mine has one, and it gets a nice tone,
and is even cooler when he uses it blended in with his EL34 equipped 900.
It's a nice pairing.
