I have borrowed a modem from a friend. It is and internal HAYES 14400.
I can successfully connect to this bulletin board uses a MS-DOS
application called comit. Modem games of Doom and Warcraft 2 work without
a hitch, but using the modem with a Windows application proves to be
astonishingly frustrating.
Try, I have. I have done everything I can think of:
1: Let windows detect my modem.
2: Choose my own modem from the Win95 list of drivers (I do not have a
Win95 driver for this modem).
3: Choose to record a "Modemlog.txt" file and check for problems.
4: Alter initiation settings in the registry
(Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Modem\0000).
When windows self-detects my modem, it selects teh standard modem successfully.
In the modemlog.txt, it shows that my modem will not respond to
commands whether I alter registry settings or not.
Please, I am desperate will you please give me a reply to this letter
even if you feel your solution may have only a slim chance.
