Reading Recovery is a new name for an old process, if you want my opinion. 
Using a few different methods, children who need special help in reading get 
it one-on-one with the reading specialist, or another teacher trained in 
Reading Recovery. A friend of mine is a RR specialist. She teaches 
Kindergarten in the morning, and is a RR specialist in the afternoon. All 3 
of the K teachers in her school are trained in Reading Recovery and act as 
the specialists for their school in the afternoons. Yet another school in the 
same district hires a full day Reading Recovery teacher, using its 
discretionary funds.
