Just to say that I have also not found the addressing of CDR's in
os/2-eCS to be responsive, with occasional symptoms (of what, exactly?)
such as described below. I'm comparing this to the address of floppies
and hdds, not to address of CDRs in other os's.

--------
For several years I've been using a Yamaha SCSI CDRW drive. Its
starting to show its age, unfortunately, so I've installed a new Liteon
IDE CDRW in one of the other machines. I have it configured to use the
newer Cdrecord (from CDDVDTOOLS-1.2b.zip), which has worked pretty
well. I've also used the original CDRECORD version 2 + ASPIROUT.SYS,
which also works.

However, yesterday I attempted to blank a CDRW for reuse. And ended up
with all sorts of problems - the drive made a few strange noises, but
the access light never came on. In addition, the whole system became
unresponsive. I was eventually able to kill the CDrecord process, but
was unable to get the CD tray to open, and had to reboot to get access
to the drive again. Tried both with the non-ASPIROUT version and using
ASPIROUT, but I got the same results every tim.

Has anyone else seen this sort of symptom? Its the first time I've used
a non-SCSI cdrw drive, so my experience of such things is limited. The
fact that the drive seems to have no problems writing to any media is
also confusing. In the case I just mentioned, I put the CDRW disk into
the old Yamaha, which blanked it without any complaints, and then put
it back into the Liteon and wrote to it, also without problems. I'm
confused...
