It also helps to understand what you're reading... That the terms
"maxint" and "minint" are in proportional font italics
preceding the various integer type variants in fixed-width courier font is
a hint.
Look on Page 3, Section 3. There you will read, "Other terms are
defined where they appear in italic type or on the left side of a syntax
rule." Therefore "maxint" and "minint" are there
to provide context, not to define an actual macro. This is confirmed by
looking at Page 421, Annex B.9 where the macros of LIMITS.H are specified.
"Maxint" and "minint" are conspicuously absent and
therefore have no place in ISO/IEC 9899:1999 (E).
