What specifically are you talking about, Kris?
" =A92005 Plextor, Inc. All rights reserved. " ??
I don't see anything on that page that acts as a big red flag against
using either of the drives on it.
CDRecord for OS/2 supports any CD/DVD I've thrown at it in the last
couple of years (mostly LG, because they also support DVD-RAM) - it
supports standards, and Plextor supports the same standards.
Been a while since I've used Plextor drives.... PX-716AL.... OOOOOH -
slot-load DVD+-RW...
You might not get it to use all the added functions that drives
support, like LightScribe for "etching" pictures onto the top of the
discs, but for basic read/write functionality under OS/2, there's not
going to be any problems with that.
I've been proven wrong before (just ask my wife!), but I'd feel safe in
recommending this drive, or any other Plextor hardware, just as I've
used every LG drive to come down the pipe in the last couple of years.
If there are problems, well, purchase it from someone with a
return/swap policy, and consider telling the rest of the OS/2 community
about then - then chalk it up to a learning experience. I call this
"R&D".
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to try firing up eCS 2.0 Beta 1 on
a Toshiba Tecra A4, and an Acer 3003WLCi, just to see if they work, and
so I can perhaps run ACPItest.exe on them... :-D
Then I can put Windows XP back on them so I can ship them out to the
people that bought them...
