-=> Thus spake David Pinkerton unto All <=- DP> When windows self-detects my modem, it selects teh standard modem DP> successfully. In the modemlog.txt, it shows that my modem will not DP> respond to commands whether I alter registry settings or not. DP> Please, I am desperate will you please give me a reply to this letter DP> even if you feel your solution may have only a slim chance. Have you tried Control Panel -> Modem -> Diagnostics yet? It could also be an interrupt conflict. I have my internal set up using Com 2 as I don't need that port for other devices. If you have your modem using Com 3 or 4 it can create conflicts. Try also Device Manager to see what it reports.
