Okay, now let's see... what I use for my internet dialer is basically

 PORT SPEED: 115200 bps
COM PORT : 4 (Software under OS/2 don't really care about IRQ, it is the
OS and driver's job... so easy task here, under Windows,
you need to make sure the com port's address confirms
to the hardware setting... or weird things might happen)
 Initializing string : ATZ
 Dialing String : ATDT
MAKE SURE that you have set up the modem using the proper command and
save it using AT&W... read the modem's manual and try out a few
configurations... I did, and the modem now dials a helluva lot faster
(about 2 to 4 times faster)... and solid as a ROCK... :) People often
ask for the *BEST* initializing string, but sometimes local teleco
are somewhat different, one's best string might not be other's best...
Like some machines can accept faster dial tone than others, I have
tried the tone duration from 70ms down to 20ms, and find that although
35ms duration does work, but not every time... and settled with 40ms
 duration...
Try configuring your modem, it is not hard, and it is not too dangerous,
anything goes wrong, just type AT&F and reset to factory setting...
 I think you'll find it fun... :)
... Hell knows no fury like a pissed off MODERATOR.
