MM>SP> 10 tents? That is a major infestation in a single tree. I'd burn
em
MM>Ten tents equals ten catepillars, right? Or are you saying there's more
MM>than one buggy in each tent? If so, then you're right - it _is_ a major
MM>infestation - otherwise, it's just 10 catepillars - I don't see any tents
MM>in the trees nearby.
Each tent can have 2-300 caterpillars inside. They are pretty small at
the start, but by the time they are full-size, just one tent's worth
can strip an entire large branch in less than a day. Ten tents could
destroy the tree totally, and the caterpillars then migrate to other
trees. In a really bad invasion, they can crawl in large bands across
highways and through residential areas, making roads slippery and
turning homes into armed camps.
MM>SP> right out of the tree with a lit torch, foget about handling them.
f
MM>SP> you get the nests at night, when the caterpillars return, while the
MM>SP> nests are small, damage to the tree is insignificant. But you may
have
MM>SP> squashing duty for a few who escape; so wear your stompin' boots.
MM>If each tent hold more than one, then we'll fry 'em! Let me know!
Mine do; I haven't counted yours. :-)
