SZ> Greetings, Siegfried.
Try copying the file from DOS to a new name say: Copy FILE.DWG FILEBAK.DWG,
Load AutoCad and see if it works without too much loss. If that works your
done. However if the file will not copy because of the crossed-links then
you will need to run NDD from Norton or if you have DOS 6.22 you can run
SCANDISK and it will remove the cross-links but sometimes you lose a lot of
your file or AutoCad may still refuse to load it.
On all our AutoCad machines or any High end CAD, DTP or ArcView stations we
always add these two or three lines to the begining of the autoexec.bat file.
c:\dos\scandisk /all /autofix /nosave /nosummary
c:\dos\defrag c: /f /h /sn
c:\dos\defrag d: /f /h /sn
You can add more defrag statements if you have more than the two drives I
have listed. This runs everytime you REBOOT or everytime you turn on your
machine. Somedays it can take a few minutes so we just grab our coffee while
we wait for boot up. This has saved us losing data in the last 2 years. We
have not lost a .DWG file and the machines seem to run faster. Enjoy.
