-= Pete Replied to Ian Smith about: Netcomm ?7F =-
G'day Ian
IS> Who can tell me exactly what model the following indicates?
IS> ati8
IS> Series 5 V.32bis Modem Y7DFS(A) V2.56B NetComm Ltd. (C) 1994
It looks like a smartmodem, being a series 5 it should be flash ROM
upgradeable.
IS> I was told that this is an M7F, but the frontplate / switch
IS> cover says 'Automodem E7F', and there's only a line RJ socket
IS> (no phone). Underneath it says Model no. SM7711.
I'd say an M7F sounds about right, it doesn't look like a AutoModem,
The model number SM = SmartModem. BTW Netcomms only have one RJ11 for
the line input, there's no phone output :-(
IS> Any advice on the following current setup would also be
IS> appreciated: it arrived without a manual, though I'm promised a
IS> 'booklet' with commands etc.
Type AT? The SmartModems have extensive help built into to firmware.
