subject: modems for a BBS

AM> Did you keep the Roadster Glen?
yep still got it...
AM> GC> problems... And now I see all teh modem reviews paying that modem out
AM> GC> big time... Most users connect at 24000 with that modem... rarely
 AM> 28.8k

AM> Oh, you got it to answer did you? Did you try connecting to other
AM> BBS's or was that when you got only 24000? I'm still getting 90%
 AM> 28.8K with 3300cps and about 8% 26400 with 3000cps, 2% covers
AM> anything lower. It doesn't drop out anymore or very rarely, I've got
AM> around that problem. I could suggest a Netcomm Voicemaster
AM> (another Netcomm, maybe you hate Netcomm now?) you could get a US
AM> Robotics Sportster or a US Robotics Courier ;-)

Well the first two roadsters I had would hardly connect to any otehr 28.8k
¨modems at all.... it would jsut makes lots and lots of noises till it hung
¨up...
Then when they gave me an upgarde to 33.6k at least they could connect to
¨other 28.8k about 95% of the time... But I've never connected at over
26400, ¨when I ring out.... most of the time 24000...
All callers to the bbs still connect at 24000....

BYE!
