Moin, Mark!
MV> I just got done re-tuning the tri-cone and capo'ing up a
MV> fret from G (sounds like Ab) to play along with Colin
MV> James's version of "Milkcow's Calf Blues".
I've never in my live have played with a record ;-)). But is there a good
possibility to put a pick-up in a tricone?
MV> Made me wonder what tunes you're playing in your Blues gig.
I haven't played no official gig the past fifteen years. Maybe I restart this
or next year.
MV> I think you
MV> said it here in the past, but wiederholen Sie, bitte, how
MV> many guys in your band and who plays what?
I play in no band, all members of this band are professional musicians, who
want to do their living by doin music. I'm playin now with mostly the lead
guitarist one evening the week. He plays all sorts of guitars, included a
National Duolian and a Dobro. Another guy plays dobro and sings, he's called
Country Rudi. Third guy doesn't know if he wants to play drums, washboard ore
harp - I hope, he will play harp in future. One of the best harp players I
ever heard.
MV> Do you get to do any solo slide Blues? What's your set
MV> list (songs that you play)?
I did some just two hours ago ;-). But in fact, I'm not a professional
musician and never will be one. We're working with two guys on a sort of
programm - mostly blues with german lyrics. I've done one song of Rev. Gary
Davis, three songs of Robert Johnson and two of Bruce Springsteen until now.
Newest is 'Bitte lass mich in deine Kueche, denn hier draussen geht gleich
ein Gewitter los', just finished today. Two Nationals slidin' the melody,
rythm like a work song (played with thumb and damped??) and a new blues text
motiv based on working far away from home ...
MV> I'm finishing up my now-famous
MV> financial restructuring, but I don't think I can sneak that
MV> Style O into the deal without all the women freaking out.
MV> Hoping for a cheap solid-body electric.
This is a somekind known problem. I don't need a financial restructuring in
the moment, but I bought a lot of music things the last year :-))))))))))).
Maybe I need a 2nd resonator-guitar this year, thinking of a cheap Johnson
steel dobro with pick-ups for avoiding retuning three times each evening.
MV> Me, I'm listening to
MV> old 1959 Ike Turner music (Willie Dixon on bass and Otis
MV> Rush on vocals / guitar) and I'm going to plug in the Strat
MV> after I finish today's paperwork.
I'm goin to bed now to read the new CrossCut Records catalog. 225 pages
filled with descriptions of blues cds. Really blues. They sell only two
records of Eric Clapton - the others are not blues :-)))
MFG,
Lutz
