It's actually a very clever way to "auction" the tickets.
Valerie is a long time subscriber and has made donations over the years to
be a "Friend" of the COC. "Friend" status has a
variety of benefits but the very best is that we have a special coat check
area meaning we can get our coats stored quickly and pick them up quickly
after the performance. We costed it out: two coats, 6 operas at the
standard coat check is about half the lowest "Friends" level --
and we get a tax receipt!
