| subject: | 33600 connects |
-=> Quoting John Piper to All <=-
JP> In my experience with 33600 modems (USR and Rockwells), I've never
JP> personally managed a 33600 connect. I have connected Courier to M34F,
JP> Courier to Courier,
JP> generic Rockwell to M34F, yet I've never managed 33600. I've also
JP> never seen inbound 33600 connects. 31200 seems common, as does 28800.
JP> In any event, 33600 seems quite impossible both here AND at work. I
JP> know for a
JP> fact that my line here is of good quality, and I am not even a
JP> kilometer from the exchange. Same deal at work, except the exchange
JP> (which services around 10
JP> Internet service providers, us included) is a great deal closer.
Personaly I have only connected on-line at 33600 once and within 5 seconds
received a NO CARRIER message!
The bandwidth on standard telephone lines isnt ever surposed to give us
28800 so in getting this we are lucky......
