:) I guess that's possible. It may be even simpler - the RW disks are 4X,
which is as fast as the Yamaha can handle RW media...

So it may be down to the fact that the Yamaha is (in computer terms) stone
age technology.

I'll have to do a bit more testing, but it seemed to be blanking the test
disk without problems when I left for work, so hopefully I've got it sorted
now.

I'll also have to go through the CDrecord docs, since every time I've used
the new drive, I get a message about burnfree being on, then being turned
off, which doesn't sound very desirable to me,
