Evolution is one of the software solutions that were created to bring
for Windows users the power of Linux, as this particular application was
designed to deliver emails right on the desktop for Linux users.

Since it is now ported and Windows-compatible, anyone can try and see if
it can actually do everything regular email clients can. From the
get-go, setting up Evolution is not too different from other similar
software.

The application comes with a configuration wizard but it loads only
after you successfully install the application. To use it, just follow a
coupe of simple steps and write down your email account information.

While the interface is very clean and easy to use, just like it's the
case with the most powerful email clients on the market, Evolution loses
a lot of ground when it comes to the way it flirts with the operating
system.

We've tried it on our Windows 7 testing machine and although it
initially worked pretty smoothly, it then crashed every once in a while.
Plus, Evolution became unresponsive sometimes and there's no other
choice but to kill the process from the 'Task Manager'.

If you get past the errors and occasional hangs, you can enjoy the email
management features as well as the powerful calendar and information
management abilities.

Even though it is designed to serve as an Outlook replacement, there's a
lot of work to be done until Evolution can even come close to that
level. Its crashes and difficulties in getting along with Windows make
it suitable for only for tests at this time as it is not appropriate for
production use just yet.
