DR> 50 cents! Do you know what they cost new! You are so
DR> fortunate to have found them at a yard sale! (They are
DR> almost $8 new, if you didn't know).
I had a feeling it was a good buy .
DR> Especially since you've got more homeschoolers down the
DR> street. Have you found out how big the homeschool
DR> population is on base housing yet? How is living on an air
DR> force base? Must be different, eh?
So far I know of two homeschooling families (besides us) in our
development alone... met another on the base while we stayed there.
I think many of the homeschoolers here are military. The church I
think I'll stick with has several homeschool families. They are
also the home of Rapid City Christian High School... Took the girls
to AWANA Weds night and they loved it! Amanda's group is going for
a 2 hour hike after church Sunday. She can hardly wait. Our field
trip yesterday was fun. Took a 2 hour train trip on a coal burning
train in the Black Hills. The max speed is about 22 miles an hour.
Can you imagine travelling across the country on one of those
babies!?!? We talked a bit about what it would have been like. It
was a lovely drive too. Many trees flaming yellow. Lots of
livestock: horses, cows, chickens and llamas. I let each of the big
kids have $2 to spend in the souvenier shop. Melody got a balancing
eagle, a candy stick and a post card. Amanda got a small Indian
girl doll, a candy stick and a post card. Got a lollipop for
Maggie. Then we came back to town, had dinner at Long John
Silvers, went to KMart and got a new pair of jeans for each of the
big girls. It was a superior day for us all. School seems to be
coming along well and I can see the light come on more and more for
Melody. I really need to make a bit more time to work with Amanda.
Things are still pretty chaotic around here and Mark is gone for the
better part of most day including occasional overnighters. Buddy
(our new Sheltie, just adopted from the pound officially today) is
fitting in well. He's very quiet and well behaved. Appears to be
house trained. Follows Melody around like she's his mommma .
Well, enough chatting. You can always tell when I've just moved
'cause I am more blabby with old friends while I'm seeking new.
Better close for now. Take care!
Theresa
... I DO know it all; I just can't remember any of it right now.
