I'm still trying to get eCS 2.0 to run within VMWare Server (the now 
free product from VMWare)- otherwise known as VMWare GSX 3.0.

The problem with VMWare when compared to other products like Virtual PC, 
SVista, Parrallels or QEMU is that it doesn't do a good job with the 
hardware it emulates.

It seems to me that it has particular problems around emulating hard 
disks as, although an eCS image with the latest DANIs drivers works 
without problems on all of the other virtualisation products, the eCS 
install traps under VMWare either in the IDE driver (be it Dani or IBM 
standard) or the kernel !

Has anyone got any suggestions as to at least, what IDE chipset VMWare 
is trying to emulate ??
