Once, my ex put the boat in at the canal on Santee-Cooper, went down
through the lock and on down the Cooper River, past Mepkin Abbey, through
the Naval Base and on into the harbor.  The whole trip down and back up the
river was a lot of fun - interesting seeing the area from that perspective
rather than from the roads.  When we went through the Naval Base, Reagan
was coming in later that day for some function, so everything was all
decorated with flags flying from the subs and ships.  There were a number
of patrol boats in the river, and my ex cautioned me not to pick up the
camera or the binoculars.
