Yes, indeed, you observe correctly! I have not walked into a health food
store in the last two years that I have not seen SP standardized extract for
sale in one form or another. In fact I think you'd be hard put to find dried
ground berries today!
The commercial extraction/standardization/encapsulation technologies have
advanced enormously in the past few years and all large manufacturers are
finding that the STANDARDIZATION of concentrated extracts in all herbals is
the way to go. They are prevented from making health claims on the label, so
they appeal to the buying public by offering a responsibly prepared product
with a good shelf life and a "swallowable" high concentration cap (gelcap for
liquids). Formerly it was thought that extracts (of any herb) would have
substandard shelf-lives, but that has turned out to be untrue, at least as
far as Seronea Repens is concerned.
