There is a story among the Indians about a man who came and pretended to have 
good medicine. The tale goes like this:
   Many moons ago there was a white man come to Indians to give good 
medicine. The humans believed the white man and took his medicine. But soon 
they all became sicker and sicker. One day the tribal medicine man went to 
the people and told them they had been tricked. So the humans banded together 
and went hunting after the white medicine man. Whent hey found him they 
beheaded him and placed his head on a post. From that day on, when anyone in 
the tribe became sick, it is said the head of the white man screamed.
