The early ancestor of the Viper, the Spirit II, had the best analog front
end I'd ever worked with.   It did like being babied with earth loop
breakers in the signal return, however.   IMHO, it should be a good choice
for rural conditions.  Caveat - IF the firmware suits the conditions as
well.  ???

Tentatively worth a try.  Guarantee is much as with any other modem. :-)
