Try VisiCalc, written by Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston, for the Apple II
(pre-Macintosh.) It was the first software program that convinced MBAs that
they needed to buy a computer just to be able to run the application. Lotus
was merely the company that produced the first popular spreadsheet clone for
the PC under PC and MS-DOS. VisiCalc started on the Apple II and then a
version for CP/M was released.
