Perhaps it is you who should have another look... the list shows that
the 716 model comes with Plextor PlexTools Pro, Roxio Easy Media
Creator, and Dantz Retrospect - all for Windows, while the 740 comes
with Nero.

It's not a list of what packages will and won't work with the drives,
for cryin' out loud.

You're getting a lot of exercise jumping to (incorrect) conclusions.
