Fair do's, retracted

Would'nt want you to get tarred with the same brush that RPI in its
earlier days got caught with. But how does one determine a "real"
modem from its controller-less counterpart by simple generic name?
Like the majority of people in here, I think we consider a modem to
consist of MDP (Modem Data Pump), MCU (Microcontroller), a ROM which
contains the MCU firmware, telephone line interface and protection
circuitry, power rails' filtration, plus host control interface

Spot what's missing in a WinModem :)

Regarding the word fraud: ever ready to assist, I'm happy to substitute
"misleading"

With all good wishes to you at Sun City
