You've captured the essence of what my thoughts were when
reading about 'extreme programming' here. I agree with all that
you have posted. :-) 

Reinventing the wheel becomes tiresome and counter-productive
for all but the youngest and least experienced programmers
wanting those who came before them to be made obsolete.
