Correct -- any Mexican-American who wants Mexico to retake the southwest
need merely take a trip back to Mexico to remind himself why he came here
in the first place.

Oh, indeed it is!!

Can you imagine someone who spend weeks walking to the US turning around
and seeing Mexico chasing him, taking over his new home?

That is correct.  The Palestinians want to determine their own destiny, and
the Israelis want the same.  They can only do that if they both have
