Well I tend to disagree!! And SO DOES EVERY MAJOR ANT MAKER IN THE US..
A dipole is 0db right?
In front of a mast is 3db with gain in the direction of the dipole FROM the 
mast...add a second dipole on the back side and its 3db moni ...
Add a second set of dipoles and you get 3db more..
6db gain overall...
My DB224 which is FOUR dipoles does 6 db gain moni quite well folks...
